Router Nitro is proud to unveil its CCTP implementation for Solana. You can easily bridge your USDC with Nitro’s CCTP integration to Solana. Now you can bridge USDC between Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Avalanche, and Solana.

Bridge your USDC to Solana using Nitro here!

A billion-dollar opportunity

Solana presents a $4B+ worth of DeFi opportunity growing rapidly (4xed since January 2024). On the other hand, USDC worth $32B is floating around in the crypto market. Solana presents a novel opportunity for holders of this USDC, allowing them to participate in various DeFi and DePin opportunities.

These include liquid staking on Jito, the money market on Kamino and Marginfi, DEXes such as Jupiter, and many more.

Why CCTP

Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) allows us to seamlessly assets across different chains. In essence, CCTP offers a native burning and minting mechanism. As part of this, when you want to send over assets from Chain A to Chain B:

  • Nitro contracts communicate to the USDC contract on Chain A to burn the request USDC
  • An equivalent amount of USDC is then minted on Chain B to your specified address

CCTP transactions take slightly longer than fast Nitro transactions powered by Nitro liquidity, but CCTP is a great choice if you wish to transfer large amounts of USDC. Currently, Nitro will default to CCTP when you choose transfer sizes larger than 5,000 USDC on Nitro between the supported chains. Currently, CCTP transactions on Nitro do not attract any bridge fees. Only gas fees is charged for CCTP transactions.

A critical reason why we chose CCTP was the lack of a need to maintain deep liquidity reserves to transfer assets. Since USDC is simply burned and minted across different chains, it creates a much cleaner and swifter UX. Moreover, CCTP can be leveraged to build complex actions such as depositing assets to a specific protocol on the destination chain. This opens a plethora of benefits for both Router Nitro and its users.

We already implemented CCTP for several chains to facilitate the transfer of USDC between user-preferred chains like Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism, Avalanche, Base and Arbitrum.

Adding support for Solana opens a whole new world of opportunities for users who wish to participate in Solana DeFi. Which other supported chain would you like us to integrate CCTP into?
