Router Protocol: Development Update
Here is a round-up of what’s cooking at Router Protocol! We are doing this sort of an update after a while, and plan to do it regularly in the future!
Alpha Mainnet Launch
After almost a year of development — we launched the alpha mainnet of Router Protocol on January 27, 2022, with the entire liquidity provided by the team. Our mainnet was a massive success and worked flawlessly. There were very limited bugs reported and more than 99% of transactions went through without any issues.
The mainnet went live initially on Polygon and BSC. Over 1,000 transactions have been successfully done on the mainnet. The lion’s share of volume so far has been stable to stable transfers — but we expect it to change as we integrate more partnerships.
Participation in ETH Denver
Router Protocol team participated in ETHDenver and connected/re-connected with various other projects, developers, investors, ideators, and community members that make our community great. Denver was cold!
Integration with Avalanche
Router Protocol integrated Avalanche Network’s C-chain to its cross-chain mesh. The announcement was covered by TheBlockCrypto, Coindesk, and tweeted by Emin (CEO of Avalanche).
Avalanche is the fourth largest chain in terms of TVL and one of the most innovative ones. Router team leadership — Ramani (CEO) and Shubham (CTO) have speaking slots in Avalanche Sumit in later March where they will be sharing ideas about Router and the cross-chain landscape.
Router on Avalanche is integrated with TraderJoe and Pangolin swap as AMMs.
More AMMs integrations
We have integrated more AMMs to provide better rates to users when they do cross-chain swaps.
On Polygon — we now support Dfyn, Quickswap, and Sushiswap. While on BSC we support Pancakeswap, Sushiswap, and ApeSwap.
Router’s PathFinder algorithm works intelligently to break down trades to different AMMs to ensure users get the best price across different AMMs.
We are also in process of integrating UniV3 and Curve for the best price discovery.
Token list improvements
Earlier users were shown a token list with limited options and users had to paste addresses of tokens to swap/transfer any other token, we have now integrated a more comprehensive token list which will allow users to select the tokens more conveniently.
What’s coming next?
More chains coming: Our next integration will likely be Ethereum or Fantom. Within this month we expect to integrate both of them. No matter how much L2s compete, we believe that Ethereum will continue to remain the settlement layer and L2 <> Ethereum is a huge opportunity.
Router widget — the widget will allow partners to integrate Router Protocol’s cross-chain swap as iFrame into their website directly. This will allow communities of the partnership projects to buy their tokens.
Cross-chain Explorer: An explorer to see how exactly the cross-chain transfers and swaps happen on different chains. This will give users more transparency and make debugging easier.
It will look like this:
Router SDK — This SDK will include tools for developers to utilize the cross-chain messaging system to build cross-chain dapps. Instead of dApps that function on multiple chains separately, devs will now be able to build dApps that use multiple chains in tandem. Think lending on one chain and borrowing on another, cross-chain farming and liquidity provision, and more. We will also be hosting various hackathons to incentivize developers to build on top of Router Protocol.
Router Dashboard: We are working with a blockchain infrastructure/data company to build a comprehensive dashboard for Router Protocol which will show important metrics like TVL, transaction volume, and a number of transactions on Router Protocol in a neat visual screen.
About Router Protocol
Router Protocol is building a suite of cross-chain infra primitives that aims to enable blockchain interoperability between current and emerging Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchains.
