The last ETHIndia happened was in 2019 and it’s been 3 years of waiting.

India is full of builders and developers with over 21,000 applications received to participate in the hackathon and only 10% were approved.

December 2nd was here. Long lines of people waiting to get in. The energy was high and the build mode was activated.

Router Protocol was one of the partners at ETHIndia and there were over $350,000+ in bounties, 2000+ builders & 450+ projects.

Day 1 was all about meeting interesting folks building anything related to cross-chain interoperability and helping them understand Router Protocol better. Router Protocol team arrived early at the venue and spent time networking with builders.

Over 30 workshops were conducted throughout day 1 and new friends were made.

As we connected with the developers to help and understand what they are building and we also gave out ROUTE tokens.

To officially begin the hackathon, Kartik Talwar co-founder of ETHGlobal & Nishant Verma, co-founder of Devfolio welcomed everyone, talked about the partners, bounties & grants, and ended the opening ceremony by doing a Q&A with Sandeep Nailwal on what to build and why.

“Today there are 44% new web3 builders, back in ETH India 2018, it was probably 100%” — Sandeep Nailwal

Day 1 ends with builders going back to the building. If they get tired they could also take a quick nap or drink some hot tea at the Round-the-clock station.

Day 2 was all about building

Builders got only 24 hours left to submit their projects.

We helped the developers understand the importance of going cross-chain and why to integrate with Router.

We also gave out some special edition merch 👀

Except handful of sessions, it was full of developers keeping their heads down and building.

Oh, Vitalik had done an AMA with the builders moderated by Juan Benet and Kartik Talwar

One of the most interesting questions asked was “How do you define public goods?” Vitalik: The definition that matters the most is “Things that are valuable to lots of people but there is no good way for the creator to capture the value without ruining the value of the good”

Our developers made sure they sit with the builders and have long conversations about what problem are they solving and why.

We also took this opportunity to connect with speakers and ask them about their perspectives on interoperability 🚀

And just like that Day 2 was over.

Tick tock. Tick tock. 5 hours left for submission 👀

ETHIndia Demo Day

Submissions are made. It’s time to demo now.

Router Protocol had $5000 worth of bounties and we were excited to see what these great minds were building.

450+ projects got demoed we want to share the 3 projects who won the Router Protocol grants.

TheFlowX — Third Place

TheFlowX is a no-code solution to take various actions based on contract events using customizable blocks.

They integrated Router Protocol to allow users to swap between multiple chains. They’ve provided a customizable router block so users can use cross-chain swaps in the action flow.

TheFlowX is built by Harsh Gandhi and Dwij Patel.

BlockPe — Second Place

BlockPe: Crypto Payments for India and the world. Built for merchants.

They integrated the Router protocol for making sure irrespective of what chain & token the end consumer pays in, the merchants always get in their default chain & token.

It’s built by the Leap Wallet team — Chinmay, Sai Krishna, Adarsh & Chandar.

Poly.edu — First Place

Poly.edu is built by Gabriel Antony.

It can also be called a “gamified web3 udemy”. The users get an SBT once they finish the course and using Router Protocol the platform will provide an SBT in multiple chains so that the users can show the proof in any chain they want.

To explain it in a single line: Proof of Education, Own what you learn.

After the demos were done, the judges picked 12 projects as finalists. We made a recap thread on everything that happened on day 3 of ETHIndia.

ETHIndia 2022 was an incredible journey. When we saw 2000+ builders working tirelessly for 2 straight nights, we knew no one can stop them. This is a great step towards the blockchain revolution.

As for Router Protocol, we’ve always believed and will believe in unraveling the power of interoperability with a sweet truth.

See you soon🙌
