Router Protocol was the title sponsor of Syntax Error at a premier Indian engineering university — IIT Roorkee

The Router Protocol team recently had the opportunity to travel to IIT Roorkee for the “Syntax Error” hackathon. The energy and ambition of the students there are often what makes these events so exciting, as it’s clear that the next generation of innovators is passionate about using deep tech to solve problems and make a difference in the world.

During the hackathon, we had the pleasure of conducting a workshop on making cross-chain NFTs using Router Protocol Crosstalk Library. We even gave a demo of our “Ping Pong” DApp, which allows users to send messages between chains.

It was exciting to see the students utilizing different technologies, such as blockchain, to create innovative and unique projects.

The Winners

First Place : CrossChat

CrossChat allows users to create communication and chat channels with other wallets and let them chat in a decentralized way. Users can create an account by logging in with their web wallet, add chats with users across chains, and share information seamlessly. Using the Polygon chain as an intermediary makes the system more scalable and fast.

Transify — Second Place

Don’t miss out on the rising crypto market again! You can easily swap your coins from one chain to another with Transify without worrying about locked funds or rapid price drops. With the help of Router Protocol, your coin swap is just a click away, making it easy and hassle-free. They were trying to implement on-chain stop loss cross-chain orders, however, due to the limited time of 36 hours — it was not completely implemented but we liked what they accomplished.

Satchel — Pool Prize

This app can swap tokens from one blockchain to another using the Router Protocol. They also implemented cross-chain transfer of tokens between different blockchains.

BlockGpost- Pool Prize

BlockGpost is a decentralized blogging site that aims to solve the problem of trust and credit for content creators on the internet. With BlockGpost, users can post their blogs and have them converted to cross-chain NFTs, with IPFS links made available to the public for decentralized storage. Once the NFT is created, the information is immutable and can’t be tampered with, giving full credit to the valid owner of the content. Furthermore, if users provide trusted and eye-catching content, they will rise in the liked blogs section and be rewarded with Router Cross-chain NFTs minted directly to their address.

ZKross — Pool Prize

The next step in decentralizing the web is finding a way to connect and facilitate the transfer of data (assets) across multiple chains. Zero-knowledge proof is a way of proving the validity of a statement without revealing the information itself. The ‘prover’ is the party trying to establish a claim, while the ‘verifier’ is responsible for validating the claim. With these technologies, things like patent licensing or house renting agreements through blockchain or even across chains can be made possible shortly.
